What's Cookin' at the Kitchen?
Happy Spring!
A Note from Jan
What a blessing 2004 has been! We welcomed 96 new workers to our group
of very stable, dependable core employees. We studied 50 Bible lessons
together and prayed before each work day that anyone who walked through our
doors would feel the Master's touch. Our sales more than doubled (253%) this
year due to great blessings, everyone's hard work and a few miracles.
Your generosity and the work of amazing volunteers and artists made our
Fall Luncheon so successful. We sold more that day than then we did in all
of 2003.
An article on Christ Kitchen appearing in the November issue of Today's
Christian Woman magazine brought us to the attention of believers all around
the country. One man wanted to order 1000 baskets; something we just weren't
ready for then, but are preparing for next year! More significantly, 90
people, after reading the article, emailed for information on starting a
Christ Kitchen type ministry in their town!
And if that's not enough, we are also very blessed to be recipients of
a grant from Presbyterian Women USA for $211,000 to develop a commercial
kitchen! Christ Kitchen (along with Christ Clinic) are praying for guidance
for this big move and are busy at work planning our expanded facility and
product line.
This success can only be understood as the Lord's mighty work going on
through many diligent, faithful believers. I am encouraged by the
admonition the Lord gave to Joshua before he lead the people into the
Promised Land which was to 'meditate on the Book day and night and be
careful to do everything written in it'. The promise for such diligence was
that they would then be 'prosperous and successful' (Joshua 1: 8). Would
you pray that very thing for Christ Kitchen - all its employees and
volunteers - that we would absorb ourselves in the Word, its promises and
admonitions, that we would take it to heart and earnestly live our lives
accordingly? I, personally, would covet your prayers to be 'strong and
courageous and unafraid' as we begin a new chapter in the evolution of the
Christ Kitchen ministry.
Easter Blessings,
Jan Martinez

We received a grant from Presbyterian Women USA for a commercial kitchen!
Can you just imagine a little store with our products in the window and all
the women working away making box lunches, catered meals, and take-home
dinners? Maybe we could even hire a few women full time with benefits!
Will you pray with us for God's guidance and the right building?

Its almost time to starting thinking about sending a CK Care Package to
your diligent college student who could use a fun surprise during finals
week! Care Packages are also wonderful ways of showing you care to an
overwhelmed new mom, a favorite old friend, or new neighbor. We have

CARE PACKAGES!
Please take a minute to consider joining us on Thursdays. There
are many ways that you could lend a hand. Join our Bible Study at 8:30;
work along side the women while they tie bows, glue boxes, measure
ingredients that go into spice packets, cut fabric. They will teach you how
to take raw ingredients and make them into a finished, sellable product that
they are so proud of! We'll fit you in anywhere you feel comfortable. Come
and stay for lunch, pray with us. Call Christine Brooks , 458-8914, for
details.
Hot Lunch Ministry. Following the Auction in November, over 40 women
volunteered to bring lunch on Thursdays. We are trying to work you all in,
so don't give up!!!
Marketing Reps With the addition of new products, we would love to have
people market our product line in the community.
Home Parties were popular during the Holidays. Perhaps you could have a
Garden Party this spring or summer.
Donate Clothes. The women always appreciate your gently used clothing. You
can bring them to the Kitchen on Thursday, or call Christine Brooks,
458-8914, and she will pick them up.
Christ Kitchen Representative for your church. You could partner with us by
publicizing Christ Kitchen news and events throughout your church community,
displaying, taking orders and/or selling Christ Kitchen products at church
functions, or organize a gathering to hear how God is changing the lives of
women who come to the Kitchen. Their testimonies are powerful and truly a
blessing back to the church.

might be, contact Jan 325-4343.
